This study examines the various conflicting issues between and among public service agencies to enhance Nigeria's effective public security service delivery. While the study embraces the use of a systems approach, it adopts a conceptual review approach with pictorial evidence and a critical review of extant literature to discuss intra-and inter-sectional conflict in the Nigerian public security service delivery system. The findings show, that the superior complexities among public security service personnel account for the constant rifts that have led to the destruction of lives and properties. The study submits that the suggested systems model be implemented complimentary, alongside the Nigerian public sector security service's traditional command and control structure. Part of the recommendations is that an independent body of peace and reconciliatory commission be established to combat the obnoxious conflictual situations among the public security service delivery personnel in Nigeria and forestall possible damage to lives and properties. The study also suggested further research to have an empirical view and widening of the scope to include the private sector security services in Nigeria to promote peace and stability in the country through effective security service delivery.

For development projects, an action research approach is often encouraged to enhance participation of end-users or beneficiaries at various stages of the project to realize the desired social transformation in the target communities. The project under consideration in this study adopted action research for some of its activities. A review of the project action research activities was conducted as part of the strategic reflection for lesson learning and to inform modification where necessary. The objectives of this study were (i) to assess the relevance of action research approach to implementation of project activities and, (ii) to draw lessons for agricultural development projects applying participatory approaches. Fifty-one participants involved in the project action research activities were interviewed on their understanding of action research, its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and level of participation in action research activities. The perception of the participants interviewed regarding action research approach was that it is relevant and important for the project, and that it has provided a good platform for learning by all participants. Some key lessons from this study for development projects when applying action research approach include the need to focus on a limited number of issues or activities that can produce social transformation in the target communities, and the necessity of adequate planning for monitoring and documentation of learning by participants. From our study, action research is a pertinent approach in community development projects, but it should be well-planned to achieve the desired objective of social transformation in the target communities.

In this article, the three authors, each of whom has been collaborating in various ways with practitioners for over 40 years, engage in a metalogue to explore their experiences of engaging in collaborative research. A metalogue is a reflective conversation whereby the mode of conversation mirrors the topic being discussed. In this illustration of a metalogue, the authors explore how they have developed as collaborative scholars. Both in the respective stories and in the metalogue the themes of being in a space of not-knowing, relevance and relationships emerged. The article offers an account of how the authors grew into their respective collaborative scholarship approaches, the key themes that emerged and of the metalogue process as a method for shared reflection on the practice of scholarship.
