An adolescent female patient presented with atraumatic left knee pain and limited flexion. MRI demonstrated evidence of a soft tissue lesion abutting the posterior cruciate ligament. Differential diagnosis included pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) and fibroma of the tendon sheath (FTS). Following arthroscopic biopsy, histopathological evaluation confirmed FTS. The tumour was then excised via an arthroscopic approach. This case report provides a unique example of FTS abutting the cruciate ligaments in an uncommonly young female patient. It highlights the importance of including benign processes, such as FTS, in the differential with more aggressive-type diagnoses like PVNS. Furthermore, this case exemplifies an appropriate surgical indication for FTS. Finally, it emphasises the importance of communication and collaboration among orthopaedic subspecialists in providing safe and effective arthroscopic treatment of this unique tumour presentation.

As a result of the frequent endurance sports that are being practiced nowadays, many techniques have been introduced to this field with favorable outcomes regarding to the management approaches of the different injuries. However, no previous investigations have adequately discussed the pathophysiology of iliotibial band friction syndrome (ITBS) based on recent evidence from the current studies in the literature. In the present investigation, we have discussed the pathophysiology and related classification of iliotibial band friction injuries based on the current studies in the literature. The current evidence about the pathophysiology of the condition is still controversial, although epidemiological investigations indicate that ITBS is becoming a more prevalent condition among runners and other endurance athletes. Furthermore, many factors can attribute to the development of the condition and have been reported to take essential roles in the pathophysiology of the disease. Some of these factors include gender, iliotibial band tightness, rearfoot eversion and weak hip abductors. Further investigations are still needed to completely understand the pathophysiology of the disease to help clinicians aim to achieve better interventions to enhance the outcome of practicing endurance and excessive exercises.

Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) is generally considered an injury to runners. Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) is one of the most common overuse injuries of the lower extremities. ITBS is the occurrence of inflammation due to friction between the iliotibial band and the underlying tissue structure, this is due to repetitive flexion and extension movements or overuse during activities such as running and cycling. This activity aims to increase the understanding of ITBS to runners in order to minimize the occurrence of injuries and to treat ITBS injuries. This activity focuses on providing education and counseling about ITBS injuries, the material presented includes definitions, etiology, symptoms, prevention, and management of ITBS injuries. Evaluation by being given a questionnaire before and after the delivery of the material. Based on the results of the evaluation carried out by the participants, it was found that many participants were able to answer the questions correctly, it can be concluded that the participants had understood the material regarding ITBS injuries.
