A Língua Espanhola Na Formação Comercial No Brasil (1905-1931)

Abstract

This study investigated the process of institutionalization of Spanish Language Teaching in Brazilian business higher education, through the educational legislation analysis, as well as reports and other published texts in newspapers in the period 1905-1931. A snippet of information was chosen taking into view two legal standards. Initially, Decree No. 1.339 of January 9th, 1905, whereby the Spanish Language enter in a very first time in Brazilian formal curriculum. To conclude, Decree No. 20.158 of June 30th, 1931, that organized business teaching and suppressed the teaching of the Spanish language of their curriculum. This work has made an approach of the purposes of the institutional implementation of Spanish Language teaching in business education in Brazil and their educational and cultural structures.
