A large-step stick-slip rotary piezoelectric actuator with high velocity under low frequency and small backward motion

Abstract: Stick-slip rotary piezoelectric actuators (SRPAs) are commonly used nowadays. However, most of them achieve high velocity by high exciting frequency, which causes the problems of wide power-source passband requirement and the wear of actuators. Moreover, their further applications are limited, due to the poor motion stability caused by the backward motion. To solve the problems, the stick-slip process is analyzed with kinematics, indicating that the large step contributes greatly to SRPAs for achieving high ve… Show more

“…On the other hand, for the molten metal droplet ejection with PMJD in DOD, this ejection method with piezoelectric actuator [125,126] has a simpler structure, better controllability of droplet outlet characteristics, and higher consistency in droplet shape and size compared to the UDS. Therefore, it can ensure smaller physical parameter errors during continuous pileup process of the molten metal droplets, which can improve the dimensional and surface accuracy of the prepared metal parts.…”

“…And this type of motor has been applied in precision equipment [4,5], biomedical [6], robotics [7] and other technical fields. Among the research of rotary ultrasonic motors, the most concerned performance indicators include output torque [8,9], rotational speed [10,11], angular displacement resolution [12], and response characteristics in complex environment [13,14]. In recent years, with the development of space technology, the application demand of rotary ultrasonic motors in aerospace mechanisms has increased significantly, and the comprehensive performance of rotary ultrasonic motors has been challenged.…”

“…However, these motors require a complex control method and are more demanding in terms of part accuracy and assembly. In the case of inertia actuators [11], [12], [13], [14], [15], [16], the inertia of a slide guide is used to drive in step motion through continuous friction contact. Typically, a single piezo-stack is used to achieve positive and reverse motion.…”
