A knowledge lens for innovation: Seeing the ambiguity, conversations and barriers in social systems

Abstract

This poster introduces the knowledge lens, a way of seeing more clearly the opportunities for knowledge creation within social systems. It includes three groupings and six elements. The groupings bring into focus the complexity of organizational life, the power of conversation in knowledge creation and barriers to the integration of information and the application of knowledge. The poster outlines the foci of the knowledge lens, along with several new insights gained by viewing social systems through this lens. It suggests that information professionals are best equipped to use the lens, articulating a new place for information professionals within organizations and other social systems.
