Abstract:This article describes a model of highway driver behavior. The model consists of an extensive set of fuzzy rules covering all possible situations that a freeway driver is likely to encounter. The model's validity is tested by performing simulations of freeway traffic flow obtained from the Baltimore-Washington parkway and comparing them with real-world data.
