Nitrogen doped nano porous graphene was used as an efficient sorbent in solid‐phase extraction process for simultaneous separation and pre‐concentration of metal ions lead (II), cadmium(II), and chromium(III)) in biological samples. Ultrasonic assisted in‐syringe dispersive micro solid phase extraction coupled with micro sampling atomic absorption spectrometry was utilized for the determination of metal ions. Nitrogen doped nano porous graphene was synthesized as a nano sorbent by chemical vapour deposition method. Methane and aniline were used as carbon and nitrogen sources. The characterization of sorbent was performed by field emission scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscope, fourier transform infrared, chemical element analysis and raman analysis. Effective parameters on the extraction efficiency such as pH, sorbent dosage, eluent volume and eluent concentration were optimized by central composite design and desirability function. Experimental results indicate that the optimal conditions for this extraction were pH = 6.4, 1.42 mg of sorbent, 100 μL of eluent, and 0.84 mol L‐1 of eluent concentration. The detection limits are as low as 1.5, 0.3 and 0.9 μg L‐1 for lead, cadmium, and chromium, respectively. The intra‐day precisions were 3.6, 4.38 and 2.94 and Inter‐day precision were 4.83, 5.26 and 4.52 for lead, cadmium, and chromium, respectively. Method performance was investigated by determination of mentioned heavy metals in complicated biological matrixes such as human plasma, urine and saliva samples with good recoveries.

A Comparative Study of Advanced Stationary Phases for Fast Liquid Chromatography Separation of Synthetic Food Colorants

Food analysis demands fast methods for routine control and high throughput of samples. Chromatographic separation enables simultaneous determination of numerous compounds in complex matrices, several approaches increasing separation efficiency and speed of analysis were involved. In this work, modern types of column with monolithic rod or superficially porous particles were employed and compared for determination of eight synthetic food dyes, their chromatographic performance was evaluated. During method optimization, cyano stationary phase Chromolith Performance CN 100 × 4.6 mm and Ascentis Express ES-CN 100 × 4.6 mm, 5 µm were selected for the separation of polar colorants. The separation was performed by gradient elution of acetonitrile/methanol and 2% water solution of ammonium acetate at flow rate 2.0 mL min−1. Mobile phase composition and the gradients were optimized in order to enable efficient separation on both columns. The method using fused-core particle column provided higher separation efficiency, narrow peaks of analytes resulted in increased peak capacity and shortening of analysis time. After the validation, the method was applied for analysis of coloured beers, soft drinks and candies.

Funding information Semnan UniversityPolyamidoamine (PAMAM) is one of the most interesting types of hyperbranched polymers that carry a large number of amino groups on its surface. PAMAM has gained significant attention from synthetic organic chemists due to its structural characteristics, controllable structure, inner porosity, and ability to trap a wide range of ions and molecules. So, in this work, the PAMAM dendrimer was synthesized, grafted onto the surface of magnetite nanoparticles, and the resulting hybrid nanoparticles were then employed as suitable host for immobilizing cobalt nanoparticles. The newly developed catalyst was well characterized by Fourier transform-infrared, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, field emission-scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, element mapping and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The efficiency of the as-prepared nanocatalyst was evaluated for the Mizoroki-Heck crosscoupling reactions. The MNP@PAMAM-Co represented perfect catalytic efficiency and high selectivity for the Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reaction compared with previously reported catalysts. The catalyst separation from the reaction mixture was easily achieved with the assistance of an external magnetic field, and its recycling was also investigated for five consecutive runs. Hot filtration confirmed no leaching of the active metal during the Heck coupling.
