A hyper-heuristic approach for resource provisioning-based scheduling in grid environment

Abstract: Grid computing being immensely based on the concept of resource sharing has always been closely associated with a lot many challenges. Growth of Resource provisioning-based scheduling in large-scale distributed environments like Grid computing brings in new requirement challenges that are not being considered in traditional distributed computing environments. Resources being the backbone of the system, their efficient management plays quite an important role in its execution environment. Many constraints such … Show more

“…Xhafa [66] presentó un híper-heurístico simple para solucionar el problema, el cual utiliza como heurística subyacente de un conjunto ad hoc (de modo inmediato y por lotes) los métodos de planificación de trabajo de los recursos grid de acuerdo a las características de grid y de trabajo. El hiper-heurístico es un algoritmo de alto nivel, que examina el estado y las características del sistema grid, selecciona y aplica el método ad hoc que produce la mejor planificación de los trabajos [67,68].…”

“…A good scheduling system must optimize QoS parameters such as price, utilization time and protection. The choice of services with minimal cost and protection is complex and finding the best pair of jobs and resources is an NPcomplete problem [4]. To surmount these challenges, several methods for programming are introduced in the existing schemes.…”

“…A grid resource management scheme is commanded to guide resource management decisions which include resource provisioning and scheduling by providing Quality of Service (QoS) metrics delivered to the users. These metrics introduce a number of challenging issues that need to be addressed such as resource provisioning-based resource scheduling and ensuring the scheduling of jobs on the trustworthy nodes [4]. Grid user often has a limited control over grid resources and the resource handler is not always able to fulfill all the requirements due to the large number of resources as well as user's requests.…”
