A hybrid PCA-AHP-Multi-grade Fuzzy approach to assess marketing-based flexibility

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a novel hybrid approach to assess marketing-based flexibility with respect to its source factors, enablers and attributes. Design/methodology/approach The study demonstrates an application of a hybrid principal component analysis (PCA)-analytical hierarchical process (AHP)-multi-grade fuzzy approach (MFA) to measure marketing-based flexibility. Using PCA method, attributes, enablers and source factors of marketing-based flexibility were identified and a concept… Show more

“…We propose an integration of both methods to run an experimental comparison of the outcomes of local competitiveness modelling. Examples of PCA-AHP hybrids are found in operations research literature or project appraisal studies (see Feng and Wen 2011;Hoang et al 2018;Lee et al 2010;Mishra and Mishra 2018). In addition, Zhou et al (2018) and Li et al (2018) argue that the combination of the PCA-AHP methods can be optimal to eliminate the risk of dispertions in the AHP weighting system regarding the expert's judgements (Saaty and Vargas 2007).…”

“…The multi-grade fuzzy approach is extensively applied in manufacturing and service sectors for assessment of leanness, agility, marketing flexibility, safety practice level and service level [1,12,21,24,[27][28][29][30][31][32]. The current study utilises multi-grade fuzzy to assess the efficiency of the work-from-home model among software professionals.…”

“…In recent years multi-grade fuzzy approach has been widely used in various fields in the literature particularly in operations management field (Almutairi et al, 2019;Mishra and Mishra, 2018). For example, Kalyan et al, (2019) developed an index to measure industrial symbiosis of a tire-manufacturing organisation using multi-grade fuzzy approach.…”
