A Hybrid PAPR Reduction Method Based on SLM and Multi-Data Block PTS for FBMC/OQAM Systems

Abstract: The filter bank multicarrier employing offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) is a candidate transmission scheme for 5G wireless communication systems. However, it has a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Due to the nature of overlapped signal structure of FBMC/OQAM, conventional PAPR reduction schemes cannot work effectively. A hybrid PAPR reduction scheme based on selective mapping (SLM) and multi data block partial transmit sequence (M-PTS) methods is proposed for FBMC/OQAM signals in this… Show more

“…For FBMC/OQAM signals, a hybrid PAPR reduction approach based on SLM and M-PTS methods is suggested in Ref. [ 20 ]. The suggested hybrid algorithm, in contrast to the straightforward SLM-PTS technique, accounts for the overlapping effect.…”

“…In practical applications, the high PAPR value in multi-carrier systems based on orthogonal transmissions, such as OFDM, is classified as the major disadvantage these systems face. The ratio of the maximum transmitted signal peak power divided by the mean signal power can be defined as PAPR [22]. Fig.…”
