A hybrid method for solar cell parameter estimation

Abstract: This work reports the results obtained from applying a non-linear optimization method to the I-V characteristic of a GaAlP/GaAlAs/Ge solar cell. Modifications done to the Hooke–Jeeves method are reported. Later, this method was combined with a semi-analytical approach. This provides the starting conditions for the modified Hooke-Jeeves method. Our proposal was validated by comparing its results to the ones obtained by other methods. When minimizing the difference between the experimental measurements of the I-… Show more

“…As per the literature review, the parameter extraction techniques of the PV equivalent circuit model can be classified into three categories, namely analytical, numerical (deterministic and stochastic), and hybrid techniques [6], [7]. The analytical methods utilize the power-voltage and current-voltage data curves with the aids of selected data points from the manufacturer datasheets (the open-circuit voltage V_oc, the maximum output power P_m, the short circuit current I_sc, the maximum output current I_m, the maximum output voltage V_m) to constitute the mathematical parameter estimation problem [8]- [13].…”
