A Hybrid Inexact Optimization Method for Land-Use Allocation in Association with Environmental/Ecological Requirements at a Watershed Level

Abstract: Abstract:In this study, an inexact stochastic fuzzy programming (ISFP) model is proposed for land-use allocation (LUA) and environmental/ecological planning at a watershed level, where uncertainties associated with land-use parameters, benefit functions, and environmental/ecological requirements are described as discrete intervals, probabilities and fuzzy sets. In this model, an interval stochastic fuzzy programming model is used to support quantitative optimization under uncertainty. Complexities in land-use … Show more

“…The evaluation of spatial patterns of land use and its function in implementing ecological engineering is also considered imperative by scholars [52]. In general, in terms of the evaluation and research of the ecological effects of the spatial pattern of land use, a notable feature is the addition of ecological constraints, economic constraints, social constraints, land applicability constraints, and technical constraints at the front or end of the spatial pattern change to evaluate single or comprehensive ecological spatial effects of land use pattern changes [53]. The research scale includes both macro and micro aspects, especially the studies combining it with ecosystem services, greatly expanding the research connotation and space of the ecological effect evaluation of spatial pattern of land use.…”

“…Inspired by such application, scholars started to research LUSO under uncertainties. Thus far, Liu used interval linear programming for uncertain LUSO with economic value maximization as objective (Liu et al, 2007;Liu et al, 2009); Lu developed a multi-objective interval stochastic programming to address uncertain LUSO, of which some parameters were calculated by GIS spatially (Lu et al, 2014;Lu et al, 2015); Zhou proposed an interval fuzzy chance-constrained programming and a hybrid programming with interval and stochastic variables to manage uncertain LUSO (Zhou et al, 2014;Qiu et al, 2015;Zhou, 2015), and Wang established an uncertain interval multiple objective linear programming for LUSO (Wang et al, 2010).…”
