A Huge Cemento-Ossifying Fibroma of Paranasal Sinus: A Case Report

Abstract: Summary: Cemento-ossifying fibroma is a well-bordered, slow-growing, benign fibro-osseous disease. Although its localization is generally in the mandible, it can be seen in any area of the craniofacial region. Radiology and histopathology help to diagnose the condition. treatment is based on close observation and/or surgical excision. in this case, we report the case of a 62-year-old male patient who had a large radiological appearance, cemento-ossifying fibroma in the paranasal sinuses.

“…13 The T2-weighted signal intensities of the calcified areas were low, 6 and those of noncalcified areas, cysts, and mucoceles were higher. 6,12,15 In our present case, MRI produced low T1-weighted but mixed T2-weighted signal intensities. Computed tomography revealed that the regions of low T2-weighted signal intensities exhibited frosted glass-type opacification, and the regions of high T2-weighted signal intensities were those containing fibrous tissue or mucus.…”

“…21,27 However, they usually show no enhancement after contrast agent injection. In addition, ossifying fibroma in the sinonasal tract commonly appears on CT as a sharply circumscribed round to oval lesion with a sclerotic eggshell rim and central radiolucency, with a variable amount of internal calcification, [28][29][30][31] which is different from fibrosarcoma.…”
