“…As depicted in Supplementary Figure S1C, the XRD pattern of CuS NPs was consistent with the standard card (PDF#06-0,464). And the peaks located at 27.4, 29.2, 31.7, 48.0, 52.5, and 59.3 °can be ascribed to the lattice planes of ( 101), ( 102), ( 103), ( 110), (108), and (116), respectively (Shen et al, 2019). The absorbance spectrum of CuS NPs exhibited that gallic acid modified CuS NPs possess a strong NIR-II absorbance (Supplementary Figure S1D).…”

“…Furthermore, selection of the cation is also of great significance. Soft acid cations (Cu + and Ag + ) [15][16][17][18][19] would interact strongly with the soft anions and assist the dissociation of discharge product. In this respect, it is thought that quasi-soft acids, Ni 2 + as an example, could also be selected for Mg-storage cathodes.…”

“…[53] In addition, the conversion cathode exhibits large voltage hysteresis observed between discharge and charge, which results in low energy efficiency. [53,54] The metal chalcogenides that have been experimentally attempted as conversion cathode for Mg batteries are CuS, [14,17,18,[23][24][25][26]34,[55][56][57][58] Ag 2 S and Ag 2 Se, [15,19,59] NiCo 2 Se 4 , [28] Cu 2−x Se, [13] CuSe, [60] Ni 0.85 Se, [61] CuS 1−x Se x , [16] CoS, [62] FeS 2, [63] Sb 2 Se 3 , [20] Bi 2 Se 3 , [20] CoSe 2 , [21] and Ni 0.75 Fe 0.25 Se 2.…”

“…The sacrificial templating approach was also demonstrated in the synthesis of hollow CuS nanocubes from solid Cu 2 O nanocubes. [ 57 ] First, the sacrificial Cu 2 O nanocubes were reacted with Na 2 S to form a Cu 2 O–CuS core–shell configuration. This was followed by addition of NH 3 , which acted as an etching agent that dissolved the Cu 2 O core.…”
