Abstract: Reverse-transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) is widely used to quantify viral RNA genomes for diagnostics and research, yet conventional RT-qPCR protocols are unable to accurately distinguish between the different viral RNA species that exist during infection.
