A highly powerful nonspecific strategy to reduce COVID‐19 deaths

Abstract: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by the coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 remains risky worldwide. We elucidate here that good IDM (isolation, disinfection, and maintenance of health) is powerful to reduce COVID-19 deaths based on the striking differences in COVID-19 case fatality rates among various scenarios. IDM means keeping COVID-19 cases away from each other and from other people, disinfecting their living environments, and maintaining their health through… Show more

“…Because of privacy data security measures, China introduced some protective measures for privacy in this system ( 18 ). Chen et al ( 19 ) in their study claimed that a strategy involving the isolation of infected subjects, disinfection, and health maintenance is crucial for the reduction of the COVID-19 death toll. The above strategy, if implemented properly, was expected to reduce COVID-19-related deaths by 85% in 2020 and by more than 99% in 2022.…”

“…After three years of a desperate struggle to maintain zero-COVID, China relaxed COVID restrictions in early December 2022, which, though highly welcomed by the public, may witness a wave of infections [1] . While the country’s strict lockdown measures had avoided many infections and deaths [2] , it kept the herd immunity level low among average Chinese. To cope with the impact, China launched new rounds of vaccination against the pandemic [3] .…”

“…Three years after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2019, China maintains its zero-tolerance policy toward the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that caused the pandemic [1]. While the country's strict lockdown measures had avoided many infections and deaths [2], it kept the herd immunity level low among average Chinese. Massive vaccination of the vast Chinese population seems to be the only chance for the country to eventually open its door and loosen its harsh quarantine practices, stagnating the economy [3].…”
