A Highly Breathable and Machine-Washable ePTFE-Aided Down-Proof Cotton Fabric

Abstract: Feather and down textiles are widely used in our daily life, especially in winter. However, they are easily drilled out from the fabric body and are difficult to machine-wash, which thereby blocks their widespread application. In order to solve these issues, a highly anti-drilling, breathable and machine-washable ePTFE-aided down-proof cotton fabric was prepared in this work, which was done by modifying a plain-weave cotton fabric with expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) nanofiber membrane via point glue … Show more

“…The pore size of the PTFE membrane can be controlled at 0.2–15 µm, and it has high air permeability, [ 44 ] chemical resistance, [ 45 ] thermal stability, and water resistance. [ 46,47 ] In addition, the service life of PTFE is much greater than that of GDE. The use of PTFE can effectively promote the industrial application of CO 2 RR.…”

“…Waterproof breathable fabrics can be classified into seven main groups. Closely woven fabrics [2,3,11] are made with natural or synthetic microfibers and yarns. Microporous coatings and membranes [2,3,8] are made of polyurethanes, acrylics, poly (tetrafluoroethylene), and polyamino acids.…”
