A high step-up DC/DC converter for PV panel application

Abstract: In this paper, a high step-up DC/DC converter is proposed, which can boost low PV panel voltage or battery voltage to a high level so as to power the dc side of gridconnected PV inverter. The proposed converter is composed of an inductor, a power switch, and a coupled inductor and is derived from the integration of buck-boost and flyback for high voltage-gain achievement. Even though it possesses buck-boost and flyback features, there is no the problem of reverse voltage polarity and the energy stored in the l… Show more

“…14 In this way, the converter achieves high voltage gain, but this requires a large number of components, which implies high costs and low reliability. Thus, in the proposed converter, 15 a CI is added to the three buck-boost stacked converter. This way, by configuring the transformation ratio (N) of the CI, the converter achieves high voltage gain.…”

“…A new topology was presented by using buck boost and flyback topologies to provide low voltage to high voltage conversion using renewable energy sources such as PV panels. Benefits were emphasized such as reducing the number of circuit elements in this topology, reducing the diode and switch stress, highly efficiency, and recovering the lost energy [25]. A half wave converter was used to improve the efficiency of PV systems under variable temperature and irradiation.…”

“…Some converters complete high step‐up voltage feature by means of cascading power stages [18, 19], which really can obtain a high level of output voltage with uncomplicated control scheme but overall efficiency will be another issue. In [20], a preliminary topology of the high voltage‐gain converter is figured out; however, it lacks for comprehensive analysis, theoretical derivation, and detailed practical measurements.…”
