A High Stable Blue BaSi3Al3O4N5:Eu2+ Phosphor for White LEDs and Display Applications

Abstract: A novel BaSi 3 Al 3 O 4 N 5 :Eu 2þ blue phosphor has been developed for the first time. Rietveld refinements of XRD data indicate that BaSi 3 Al 3 O 4 N 5 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /m. This phosphor exhibits comparable photoluminescence intensity with that of commercial BaMgAl 10 O 17 :Eu 2þ blue phosphor under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and near-ultraviolet (NUV) excitation. Furthermore, it shows excellent thermal and chemical stabilities, high quenching temperature, and higher converting … Show more

“…To our best knowledge, rare research on the VUV excitation spectra for oxynitride phosphors has been reported [21,22]. In this work, Al 10 O 3 N 8 :Eu 2+ phosphor also shows good VUV luminescence property as shown in the inset (right) of Fig.…”

“…In addition to the general luminescence properties under ultraviolet (UV) or blue light excitation, it has been proved that some of oxynitride phosphors show intriguing luminescence under VUV excitation [13,14]. To the best of our knowledge, there is still no report on the VUV luminescence properties of AlON based phosphors.…”

“…[81][82][83] The compositions with the highest QY are the halophosphates (apatites) having a generic formula A 5 (PO 4 ) 3 Cl:Eu 2+ (A = Sr, SCAP; Ba, BCAP; Ca, CCAP; or a mixture of the alkaline earth elements), which have QYs > 90%. Most compositions have Eu 2+ activators with emission peaks ranging from 420 to 490 nm.…”
