“…Fast-charging stations are one of the most important breakthroughs in this area [7]. An EV battery may be charged to 80% capacity at one of these charging stations in a short duration of 30 minutes.…”
As electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming more prevalent in the current scenario. One of the significant obstacles is range anxiety which hasn’t been overcome because of the short range of a single charge. By employing an on-the-spot dynamic charging system using a charged external battery pack, it can be avoided. In this manuscript, the control algorithms i.e. Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller (PID) are modelled by ensuring the electrical and thermal characteristics of the conversion are within a predetermined and acceptable range. The State-of-Charge (SOC), battery current, and battery voltage are observed and monitored in Matlab Simulink. To obtain the pragmatic results, a basic Battery Management System (BMS), which implements the Coulomb Counting method, is also developed and simulated. The semiconductor devices used are thermally modeled to measure dissipation. This is a suggested design for an emergency-only lightweight portable rapid charger. This design does not replace the standard charging stations.
