A heuristic approach for investigating the integration of electric mobility charging infrastructure in metropolitan areas: An agent-based modeling simulation

Abstract: This paper discusses devising a methodology for developing a heuristic approach for planning authorities and policy makers to investigate the integration of electric mobility charging infrastructure in metropolitan cities, particularly in the UK. This study is a part of a PhD research project; it presents a part of its overall methodology, which will be employed in a smaller-scale pilot project to obtain initial findings. An agent-based modelling and simulation (ABMS) technique is proposed to represent the phe… Show more

“…These determine the way the agent behaves in the given scenario, and how it interacts with the environment and other agents [6] [7]. The main reason this methodology is used, is the fact that it has been previously tested in mobility related applications [8], and it enables to test a wide range of different agents.…”

“…EVs offer considerable potential to make progress with regard to a variety of wider environmental, societal and economic objectives, which accelerates the development of smarter cities (ElBanhawy et al 2012;Lindblad 2012). Nevertheless, the transitional phase between using purely conventional means of transportations to state-of-the-art technological ones is a long way for development and awareness.…”
