“…The routine using a nanoprobe has already been applied for advanced applications such as nano-XAFS of a single catalyst particle and local XMCD of a single magnetic dot [9]. The developed beamline components will enable rapid construction of further beamlines for nano-analysis.…”

“…The XFH experiment was performed at BL39XU in SPring-8. The beamline achieves a well-focused beam with a high beam intensity stability 21) , which enables us to obtain high-quality holograms from the small-sized sample. The experimental set up is illustrated in Fig.…”

“…The same concept has been brought to the hard-X-ray beamlines at different facilities. [163][164][165][166][167] The XMCD microprobe technique has the following useful features, which other electron-or magneto-inductive techniques do not offer: i) element-specificity, ii) bulk sensitivity, iii) high sensitivity and quantitative ability, and iv) compatibility with high magnetic fields (&1 T). With these capabilities, the hard-X-ray MCD microprobe allows characteristic measurements of: a) element-specific magnetic imaging under a magnetic field, b) element-specific magnetization curves in a local area, and c) magnetic imaging of buried magnetic layers.…”

“…This capability has been used to directly evaluate the magnetic properties of bit-patterned media. 167,168,[171][172][173] Bit-patterned media 174) was proposed as a new scheme for recording information on magnetic media with ultra-high density data storage. Recording on isolated magnetic dots of perpendicular anisotropy would greatly improve the thermal stability and could reduce the reading noise compared to the continuous granular media presently in practical use.…”
