A giant retroperitoneal tumor with severe destructive change of lumbar vertebra.

Abstract: A 77-year-old man was first pointed out right sciatica and low back pain.The X-ray examination showed osteolytic destructive change of L-5 vertevra, and next by CT scan we found giant retro-peritoneal tumor which invaded vertebra.Clinically we made a diagnosis of malignant tumor, but this case was alive for 3 years and no sign of metastasis.We performed operation of partial resection and examined histologically. The specimen showed S chwannoma and there was no evidence of malignancy.
