A generic data structure for integrated modelling of tokamak physics and subsystems

Abstract: The European Integrated Tokamak Modelling Task Force (ITM-TF) is developing a new type of fully modular and flexible integrated tokamak simulator, which will allow a large variety of simulation types. This ambitious goal requires new concepts of data structure and workflow organisation, which are described for the first time in this paper. The backbone of the system is a physics-and workflow-oriented data structure which allows for the deployment of a fully modular and flexible workflow organisation. The data … Show more

“…Despite these specificities, LIUQE can be readily implemented on any air cored Tokamak with axisymmetric passive conducting structures. To that purpose, machine specific code was grouped in dedicated initialisation blocks, and its interface with the European International Tokamak Modelling Task Force data structure [7] is under construction.…”

“…ITM is to produce a comprehensive simulation package for ITER [13] with both the hardware and the software, including the middleware like Consistent Physical Objects (CPO) and universal access layer (UAL) [14]. Integration of scientific models in ITM is centered around the Kepler workflow system [15]: an existing model is wrapped as a Kepler actor.…”

“…This global design of the IMAS infrastructure has been largely inspired by the developments of the European Integrated Modelling Task Force (EU-ITM) [1][2][3], a project which also puts a strong emphasis on the development of integrated modelling standards for a large community of researchers. A large part of the IMAS infrastructure software reuses EU-ITM developments, although the original source code sometimes required significant adaptations to be consistent with the ITER Physics Data Model, which has significant improvements and new features with respect to the EU-ITM data model [3] (see section 2.2).…”
