By combining the filter circuit and boost circuit, the filter-integrated three-switch boost inverter (TSBI) is proposed in this paper. Different from the traditional boost inverter, TSBI achieves the boost function at the AC side, so the voltage stress on the switches is small. Through modelling and analysis, the boosting characteristics and filtering characteristics of the system are obtained. The proposed topology can significantly suppress the resonance spike and does not need to add additional filtering equipment, which can reduce the volume of equipment and system loss. In order to clearly illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed topology, this paper makes a detailed comparison with other types of inverters. Finally, the feasibility of the system is verified by experiment and simulation.

This paper proposes a new switched-capacitor nine-level (9L) inverter with reduced switch count. In the proposed topology, floating capacitor (FC) is employed as a voltage booster, and it does not need any additional sensors to maintain the voltage across the FC. Due to additional FC, the number of dc sources and voltage stress on switches is reduced. Moreover, the proposed topology can be cascaded to achieve more voltage levels. Various parameters are considered in the comparison of the proposed topology with other recent switched-capacitor topologies. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the performance with different load and modulation index variations.

Symmetrical Cascaded Switched-Capacitor Multilevel Inverter Based on Hybrid Pulse Width Modulation

Multilevel inverters have been widely used in various industrial applications such as renewable energy generation and electric vehicles. An improved circuit of symmetrical cascaded switched-capacitor multilevel inverter is proposed so that the reactive power is absorbed by its power supply instead of capacitors. Then, a special hybrid pulse width modulation strategy combing level-shifted pulse width modulation (LS-PWM) and phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PS-PWM) was developed for the inverter. With this modulation algorithm, the power between cascaded units is automatically balanced, and the voltage of the capacitor in each unit is also automatically balanced to the dc input voltage. In addition, the optimized capacitor voltage ripple makes it possible to use a smaller capacitor to produce a better output voltage waveform. Theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results show that the equivalent switching frequency of the cascaded multilevel inverter is twice the original frequency so that the output voltage harmonics are only distributed near even multiples of the carrier frequency.
