A general two-step chemical vapor deposition procedure to synthesize highly crystalline transition metal dichalcogenides: A case study of MoS2

Abstract: A green and simple synthesis method based on a two-step chemical vapour deposition approach has been developed to synthesis transition metal dichalcogenides flakes. With non-toxic precursor such as transition metal oxides and elemental sulphur, large-area, strong photoluminescent, and uniform MoS 2 nanoflakes was produced at a relatively low growth temperature (650 °C). Controlling layer number and morphology was achieved only by precursor concentration without any oxide impurity revealed by SEM, PL and Raman … Show more

“…The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the E 1 2g peak of synthesized ML MoS 2 is B3.3 cm À1 , thus indicating that the MoS 2 film has good crystalline quality. [22][23][24] To identify the composition of NaOH-doped MoS 2 flakes and to further understand the role of NaOH, we performed XPS characterization. Fig.…”

“…Firstly, these films were grown on a SiO 2 substrate using a CVD method. Then the samples were initially characterized in air using Raman and PL spectroscopy at room temperature [49]. Experiments were performed on films of single layer MoS 2 .…”

“…A critical innovation is highly important for engineering the nanostructure of MoS 2 ; such innovation differs from dimensional morphologies and the corresponding fabrication methods, such as mechanical exfoliation [159], chemical exfoliation [160], hydrothermal synthesis [161], and CVD [162]. The preparation of single-layer nanosheets using the scotch tape technique was the first to apply a micromechanical exfoliation method.…”
