In this study, the effects of coated (TiAlN and TiN) drills and cutting parameters on drilling performance were investigated. Drilling operations were carried out by drilling holes 20 mm deep with 5 mm diameter drills on duplex stainless steel (2205). Three different cutting speeds (15, 20 and 25 m/min) and three different feed rates (0.05, 0.075 and 0.1 mm/min) were used in the experiments. The effects of different drills and cutting parameters on the cutting force and surface roughness are measured. Experiments were made in full factorial and optimum conditions were determined for the values measured by the gray relational analysis method. According to the gray correlation analysis value, it was found that the feed rates on the cutting force and surface roughness had a greater effect than the other factors. In addition, variance analysis (ANOVA) was performed to determine the effects of cutting parameters on cutting force (Fc) and surface roughness (Ra). According to ANOVA results, it is determined that the most effective parameter on Ra is the feed rate and the most effective parameter on the second degree is the cutting speed.

Bu çalışmada, yutucu yüzeyi üzerinde farklı geometriye sahip kanatçıklar bulunan hava akışkanlı güneş kollektörlerinde ısı transferine (Nusselt sayısı) etki eden parametrelerin optimizasyonu için Taguchi metodu kullanılmıştır. Deney parametresi olarak dört farklı Reynolds sayısı (Re=3150, 3800, 4400 ve 5000), iki farklı kanatçık tipi (Tip-I ve Tip-II) ve iki farklı kollektör eğim açısı (α=25° ve 40°) belirlenmiştir. Üç farklı deney parametresi olan Reynolds sayısı, kollektör eğim açısı ve yutucu yüzey kanatçık tipinin kollektörün ısı transferine olan etkileri incelenmiştir. Taguchi metodu kullanılarak elde edilen L8 (41x22) dikey deney dizilimi ile ısı transferinin maksimum olması için gerekli olan optimum deney dizilimi tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. En yüksek Nu sayısı değeri için optimum deney dizilimi A4B2C1(Re=5000, Tip-II, α=25°) olarak elde edilmiştir. Her bir deney parametresinin ısı transfer miktarına olan etkilerinin analizi için ANOVA yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Kullanılan deney parametrelerinden deney sonucuna en yüksek etki eden parametre %73,77 ile Re sayısı olarak bulunmuştur.

Solar dryers are one of most efficient devices for drying food and other products. These devices are eco-friendly and need solar energy for their operation and which is available freely and abundantly at almost every place. These are simple devices which do not need use any fossil fuel for their operation, which are expensive, exhaustive in nature and are not eco friendly. Several fresh food products and other items are dried for preservation and utilization for longer period of time. In recent times, with the development in this technology, the solar dryers are becoming well equipped with efficiency increasing add-ons which give higher performance. Several experimental studies have been carried out to mitigate the time consumption and increasing the productivity of solar dryers. Optimization of solar dryers is done to increase their workability increasing accuracy and reducing drying time and cost investment. In order to optimize the complete setup several techniques could be used to get the optimum results. In the present work Taguchi optimization technique was applied for experimental analysis of solar dryer which was used to dry potatoes. The results thus obtained showed the best configuration comprising air velocity, air flow and humidity required to dry potatoes
