A Garnet-Based Ca2YZr2Al3O12:Eu3+ Red-Emitting Phosphor for n-UV Light Emitting Diodes and Field Emission Displays: Electronic Structure and Luminescence Properties

Abstract: A series of CaYZrAlO:Eu (CYZA) phosphors were successfully synthesized through conventional solid-state method. The electronic structure and their photoluminescence or cathodoluminescence properties were investigated in detail. Under n-UV excitation, the CYZA:Eu exhibits more intense red emission than the commercial YO:Eu phosphor. A WLED lamp with good color render index was obtained by fabricating the phosphor with BAM:Eu and LuAG:Ce phosphors. The phosphor also exhibits red emission with high current satura… Show more

“…Given the sensitivity of Bi 3+ ions to the coordination environment, the optical properties of LM (1-w) Z w T:0.005Bi 3+ , 0.002Mn 4+ (0 ≤ w ≤ 1) samples with varying w values are discussed in details. The optical band gaps of LMT and LZT hosts are firstly calculated by following formula based on the diffuse reflection spectra: [36][37][38] […”

“…Thus, substitution at the "A" site by rare-earth ions such as Eu 3 + and Tb 3 + ions gives rise to intense red and green emissions. [13,14] Silicate garnet,C a 3 Cr 2 Si 3 O 12 ,d isplays an intense green color and is commercially known as VictoriaG reen.
