A functional size measurement method for object-oriented conceptual schemas: design and evaluation issues

Abstract: Functional Size Measurement (FSM) methods are intended to measure the size of software by quantifying the functional user requirements of the software. The capability to accurately quantify the size of software in an early stage of the development lifecycle is critical to software project managers for evaluating risks, developing project estimates and having early project indicators. In this paper, we present OO-Method Function Points (OOmFP), which is a new FSM method for object-oriented systems that is based… Show more

“…The methods identified in the survey can be seen in Table 1. Pastor and his colleagues [28] 2004 Finnish Software Metrics Association FSM The Finnish Software Metrics Association (FiSMA) [29] Table 1 displays in chronological order the main estimation methods, showing the year of creation, the name of the method and the author of it. For each of the methods identified, a summary of the description and characteristics was developed, as can be seen in the following items.…”

“…Therefore, the functional size of a model will not vary even if some elementary processes have a very large number of DET, RET, or FTR [Giachetti et al 2007;Kitchenham 1997]. Even though we found approaches that measure the functional size in MDD environments in the literature [Abrahão et al 2006] , these approaches are FPAbased and also have the FPA limitations.…”
