Abstract:Small bowel obstructions are common acute surgical presentations often as a result of intraabdominal adhesions or herniations; rarer causes include malignancies, strictures, foreign bodies and bezoars. Phytobezoars (bezoars composed of undigested plant material) account for<4% of small bowel obstructions.
