A frequency-domain analytical model of an uncontrolled single-phase voltage-source rectifier

Abstract: Abstract-The harmonic currents generated by the single-phase rectifier are well known. As the levels of these currents become larger, the use of power conditioners such as shunt active filters to lower the levels is becoming more attractive. In order to analyze the interaction between the condition, ac system, and rectifier it is necessary to have an accurate model of the rectifier. This paper describes a frequency-domain analytical model of the single-phase rectifier. The model includes the dominant frequency… Show more

“…Alternatively, as in the case of double-Fourier analysis of PWM waveforms, the projection of the crosssection of cut by a plane defined by (8) onto the vertical plane defined by y = 0, as shown in Fig. 3c), yields a pulse-width modulated waveform which is the same as upon substitution of x by (5). Note that (8) can be written as (9) where .…”

“…In addition to steady-state harmonic distortion, dynamic interactions (including harmonic resonance) between rectifiers and the rest of the system are important concerns and have been studied for applications such as HVDC transmission [4], active power filtering [5], and more-electric aircraft [6]. Harmonic impedance characteristics and possible resonance involving filter components on the ac and dc side of a HVDC converter are considered in [4], where numerical simulation was used to determine the effects of dc-side impedance on the ac-side resonant frequency.…”
