Este estudo analisou a produção científica relacionada ao uso de softwares de tempo de reação (TR), identificando o mais utilizado e descrevendo a temática dos estudos que fizeram uso deste software, a partir de artigos publicados na base de dados ScienceDirect (de 2001 até 2013), por ser abrangente e cobrir as principais áreas de interesse no uso deste tipo de software. A partir das palavras "reaction time" e "computer ou software", identificou-se o software E-Prime ® como o mais utilizado, totalizando 11 artigos que foram selecionados para esta pesquisa. Os itens investigados foram: periódico, objetivo do estudo, amostra, área de aplicação ou especialidade, acessório utilizado para resposta, tipo de TR, descrição da tarefa e resultados. O periódico Appetite publicou dois artigos, as demais publicações ocorreram em periódicos distintos. Predominaram pesquisas com adultos saudáveis (n=5), com média de 57,6 participantes. Para registro da resposta, foi utilizado um acessório externo que acompanha o software. Quanto ao tema, foram identificados e apresentados resultados sobre análises da coordenação e planos motores (n=2), análises de transtornos relacionados ao uso de substâncias (n=2), transtornos da visão (n=1), análises no comportamento alimentar (n=2), o efeito da motivação sobre o desempenho no TR (n=1) e os transtornos da fala e da linguagem (n=2), além da avaliação dos distúrbios da atenção em Parkinsonianos (n=1). Os resultados demonstram a diversidade de aplicabilidade de estudos com tarefas de TR com o uso de apenas um software e a forte relação entre TR e medidas de saúde física e cognitiva.Palavras-chave: tempo de reação; software; transtornos das habilidades motoras. ABSTRACTThe study analyzed scientific production related to the use of reaction time software (RT), to identify the most used and describe the main issues of studies that have made use of this software published from 2001 to 2013 in the ScienceDirect electronic database, since this database is comprehensive and covers the main areas of interest with the use of this software. From the words "reaction time" and "computer or software", the E-Prime ® software was identified as the most used, totaling 11 articles, which were selected for the study. The items investigated were: journal, objective, sample, application area or specialty, accessory used to reply, RT type, task description and results. The Appetite journal published two articles; the other articles were published in different journals, with predominance of research with healthy adults (n=5) with 57.6 participants on average. To record response in the data collection, it was used an external accessory accompanying the software. Objective: Determine the validity of the TRT_S 2012 software in to assess the total reaction time (TRT) with a simple visual stimulus (TRTSimple) and mental fatigue from TRT (TRTFatigue). Methods: Three types of validation were applied: a) concurrent, for determining the correlation between the TRT_S 2012 Software and Vienna Test System (VTS), b) content of a sample of adults, and c)mechanical, using a robot that performs a mechanic motion to respond to a light stimulus.The study included 216 young adults, college students aged 17 -45 years (x = 24.0 ± 6.0) and a robot. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for performance on TRT obtained by young adults and robot in two software. Results: The intra-class correlation in the adults TRT showed strong correlation between VTS and TRTSimple (R = .72). Identification of the proposed initial stimulus in TRTFatigue presented intermediate correlation with VTS (R = .56) and the final stimulus presented low correlation with VTS (R=.35).The robot TRT showed standard deviation ranging .5 ms (on average) between the highest and lowest.The standard error of the mean ranged from .23 to .28 and the distributions were homogeneous between 8.2 to 9.7%. Conclusion: The results confirmed the validity of the software TRT_S 2012 . It is a reliable cognitive test that can be applied to young adults for measuring the TRT with simple visual stimuli and for evaluating the influence of mental fatigue from the TRT. however, the delays caused by the computer resources used should be considered and measured with a resource like the robot. We conclude that the TRT_S 2012 software is valid for assessing the TRT and cognitive fatigue in healthy adults.Key words: reaction time, mental fatigue, software.

ARTIGO ORIGINAL | ORIGINAL ARTICLE RESUMOO Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o tempo de reação simples (TRS) e de escolha (TRE) e o desempenho no nado crawl em diferentes níveis de aprendizagem. Fizeram parte deste estudo 26 sujeitos com idade média de 12.15 anos divididos em dois grupos: iniciantes (G1) e avançados (G2). Avaliou-se o tempo de reação (TR) por meio de um software e o nado crawl com o Teste de Desempenho Motor do Nado Crawl. Os resultados demonstraram diferença no TRS com média de G1 = .341s e G2 = .271s (t = ˗ 3.670; p = .001; TE= 0.60) e no TRE com média de G1= .651s e G2= . 492s (t = ˗ 4.016; p = .001; TE= 0.63), indicando que no estágio avançado os aprendizes possuem melhores tempos de resposta.Uma correlação moderada encontrou-se entre G1 (iniciante) e TRE (avançado) (r = -0.560; p = 0.046), e G2 (avançado) e TRS (avançado) (r = -0.685; p = 0.010). Conclui-se que o TR é importante para o sucesso na performance do nado crawl uma vez que seu aprimoramento resulta em menores gastos de tempo em indivíduos em estágio avançado.Palavras-chave: Tempo de reação, Destreza Motora, Natação, Aprendizagem. ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to evaluate the simple reaction time (SRT), the choice reaction time (CRT) and the performance of front crawl swimming at different learning levels. This study had 26 participants of both genders with a mean age of 12.15 years, divided in 2 groups: beginners (G1) and advanced (G2). Reaction time (RT) was assessed by a software that measures the interval between a visual stimulus and response, and the performance of front crawl swimming was measured by a test which allows to evaluate and score the swimming technique. The Student t test for independent samples was used and significance level was set at 5%. Results showed that there was a difference between the 2 groups in SRT (G1 = .341s e G2 = .271s; t = ˗ 3.070; p = .001; TE= 0.60), and CRT Time (G1= .651s e G2= . 492s; t = ˗ 4.016; p = .001; TE= 0.63). A moderate correlation was found between G1 (beginner) and TRE (Advanced) (r = -0.560, p = 0.046), and G2 (advanced) and TRS (Advanced) (r = -0.685, p = 0.010). We conclude that TR is important for success in the front crawl performance since its improvement results in lower time costs in subjects at an advanced stage.
