A Framework of Ontology-Based Tablet Production Supporting System for a Drug Reformulation

Abstract: SUMMARYThis paper presents a framework of supporting system for a drug formulation. We designed ontology to represent the related knowledge for reusable and sharing purposes. The designed ontology is applied with operation rules to suggest an appropriate generic drug production based on information of original drug. The system also provides a validation module to preliminarily approve a pharmaceutical equivalence of the suggested result. Preliminary testing with four random samples shows potential to reformula… Show more

“…The operation knowledge is a procedural knowledge which is described in production rule. 13 In 2013, Nopphadol Chalortham et al used the OXPIRT for the production of immediate-release tablets. This tool provides a better path for a pharmacist to produce a generic immediate-release tablet in a laboratory-scale production.…”

“…In healthcare, DSS is the computer-based set of tools, which provides clinical knowledge and patient-related information to clinicians at appropriate time [2]. DSS has been applied in various fields of healthcare domain such as to improve diagnosis result [3], to visualize the diagnosis path and their criteria [4], and to validate drug formation [5]. These DSSs can be categorized by their objectives in clinical-oriented, and patient-oriented.…”
