A framework for knowledge integration and diffusion

Abstract: Purpose -This paper aims to introduce a general framework for the analysis of knowledge integration and diffusion using bibliometric data. Design/methodology/approach -The authors propose that in order to characterise knowledge integration and diffusion of a given issue (the source, for example articles on a topic or by an organisation, etc.), one has to choose a set of elements from the source (the intermediary set, for example references, keywords, etc.). This set can then be classified into categories (cats… Show more

“…They extended and generalized the first approach (e.g., Rafols, Leydesdorff , et al 2012;Liu, Rafols & Rousseau 2012), and focus on interdisciplinarity as knowledge integration (Porter et al 2006). Their aim is to develop set of generic measures for interdisciplinarity, which has been applied on, for example, individual papers or sets of papers (Rafols & Meyer 2010) and on research groups (Rafols, Leydesdorff, et al 2012).…”

“…Leydesdorff (2007) explored network centralities as indicators of interdisciplinarity. Liu et al (2012) saw interdisciplinarity as one side of the knowledge integration (via interdisciplinary work) and knowledge diffusion duality and proposed a general framework for their study.…”

Therefore, the reciprocal action on factors of knowledge, personality and environmental will affect member knowledge associated integration by influencing the members to absorb knowledge.…”
