Abstract. Process maturity reference frameworks such as ISO/IEC 15504 and the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) seek to assist software process improvement (SPI) efforts by prescribing a roadmap for improving the capability of the development process. However, such frameworks are not widely adopted in the practice [1], [2], especially in smaller software development organisations where the development process is often modified based on business events [3]. Such modification of the development process represents an attempt to harmonise the process with the changing needs of the business, which is a dynamic capability. Dynamic capabilities refer to the ability of businesses to adapt to changing circumstances and according to the evolutionary theory of the firm [4], organisations that possess greater dynamic capability are more successful. This paper introduces dynamic SPI capabilitythe ability to adapt the software process relative to changing situational circumstances -as a method for evaluating software process adaptation.

Effort distribution in software engineering is a well-known term used to measure cost and effort estimation for each and every phase or activity in software development. Effort distribution is taken in consideration in almost all IT companies while developing software. But it is mostly not considered or overlooked in developing academic software projects by students of computer science courses. The paper presents with results of an experimentation on phase effort distribution data of 84 software academic projects of post graduate final year students of computer science. The phase effort distribution provided by students were collected, analyzed and compared with COCOMO II model which provides effort distribution required in software development. Finally, this paper also discusses and provides recommendation about the use and importance of effort distribution in academic software projects development.

A series of 1-phenyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline derivatives and several 1-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline, 1-phenyl-isoquinoline analogues were synthesized, and their cytotoxicity and tubulin polymerization inhibitory activity were evaluated. The 1-phenyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline compounds were found to be potential tubulin polymerization inhibitors. Compound 5n, bearing a 3'-OH and 4'-OCH(3) substituted 1-phenyl B-ring, was shown to confer optimal bioactivity. The single-crystal structure of 5n was further determined by X-ray diffraction, and the binding mode of 5n to tubulin was obtained by molecular docking, which can explain the structure-activity relationships. The studies presented here provide a new structural type for the development of novel antitumor agents.
