Abstract

The thesis has as general objective to understand the process of training futsal coaches in Brazil from different contexts. The work begins with the presentation of the thesis and the researcher, then brings the general Introduction with themes on "The sports coach in the world sphere"; "Sports coaches in Brazil and the particularities of futsal". The structure is based on a common conceptual axis and consists of five chapters, built in the format of scientific articles, which address the process of training futsal coaches in Brazil from different contexts. Chapter 1 presents a literature review on futsal coaches in Brazil, presenting a still reduced and incipient character of these works. In Chapter 2, we discuss the characteristics of teaching futsal at school, showing the prominence that the modality receives in this environment. Different conceptions and teaching methodologies used by the teachers were identified, as well as a strong connection between the experiences with futsal as students and the pedagogical practices adopted as teax'x'chers.Gender issues were highlighted, evidencing a contradiction between the motivation to change the scenario and an organization of school classes that promotes its maintenance. Chapter 3 concerns the futsal disciplines of undergraduate courses in Physical Education, exposing that these are primarily based on technical-tactical references, with a marked gap in relation to socio-educational elements. In Chapter 4, we carried out the construction of a questionnaire that allows the investigation of different Large-Scale Coach Training Programs (PFTs) and, based on it, we analyze a futsal program at the national level. This showed a positive general assessment, but promoted an alert about the impact that the PFT generates on its students.Chapter 5 aimed to analyze a large-scale PFT promoted by a state federation. The program presented as its identity the valorization of adequate training processes for children and young people in futsal, to the detriment of early specialization and an environment of exacerbated competition established in the state. The PFT is still at an early stage of development, with the teaching concept related to a traditional perspective. There is a possibility of increasing the impact generated on the graduating coaches from the transition to a constructivist format that places students at the center of the teaching process. The construction of this Doctoral Thesis allowed us to perceive a context of training of coaches in Brazil characterized by a series of problems, with marked inconsistencies and uncertainties. There is no common axis that guides the training process of coaches, nor a basis of direction that facilitates the dialogue between knowledge and learning from different places or contexts. In this way, there is no organized and progressive training process that contributes to the long-term development of futsal coaches.
