Abstract:Purpose
Staphylococcus aureus is the most common and impactful multi-drug resistant pathogen implicated in (periprosthetic) joint infections (PJI) and fracture-related infections (FRI). Therefore, the present proof-of-principle study was aimed at the rapid detection of S. aureus in synovial fluids and biofilms on extracted osteosynthesis materials through bacteria-targeted fluorescence imaging with the ‘smart-activatable’ DNA-based AttoPolyT probe. This fluorogenic oligonucleotide probe yields la… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
