Integer overflows have threatened software applications for decades. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel technique to provide automatic repair of integer overflows in C source code. Our technique, based on static symbolic execution, fuses detection, repair generation and validation. This technique is implemented in a prototype named INTREPAIR. We applied INTREPAIR to 2,052 C programs (approx. 1 million lines of code) contained in SAMATE's Juliet test suite and 50 synthesized programs that range up to 20 KLOC. Our experimental results show that INTREPAIR is able to effectively detect integer overflows and successfully repair them, while only increasing the source code (LOC) and binary (Kb) size by around 1%, respectively. Furthermore, we present the results of a user study with 30 participants showing that INTREPAIR repairs are more efficient than manual repairs.

Developing secure software systems is a major challenge in the software industry due to errors or weaknesses that bring vulnerabilities to the software system. To address this challenge, researchers often use the source code features of vulnerabilities to improve vulnerability detection. Notwithstanding the success achieved by these techniques, the existing studies mainly focus on the conceptual description without an accurate definition of vulnerability features. In this study, we introduce a novel and efficient Memory-Related Vulnerability Detection Approach using Vulnerability Features (MRVDAVF). Our framework uses three distinct strategies to improve vulnerability detection. In the first stage, we introduce an improved Control Flow Graph (CFG) and Pointer-related Control Flow Graph (PCFG) to describe the features of some common vulnerabilities, including memory leak, doublefree, and use-after-free. Afterward, two algorithms, namely Vulnerability Judging algorithm based on Vulnerability Feature (VJVF) and Feature Judging (FJ) algorithm, are employed to detect memory-related vulnerabilities. Finally, the proposed model is validated using three test cases obtained from Juliet Test Suite. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is feasible and effective.

This paper proposes an optimized synchronous PWM method for harmonic elimination in a quasi square wave inverter. The synchronized PWM method enables online harmonic computation and PWM pulse generation in a multitasking digital controller to eliminate lower order harmonics. The multitasking digital controller reduces the look-up table requirement and helps in realizing efficient implementation to eliminate dominant harmonics. This method offers a simple scalable solution for combined fifth and seventh harmonic elimination using two low-cost eight-bit PIC microcontrollers (PIC18F4550, PIC18F452). Experimental results are demonstrated for a single-phase three-level inverter. The proposed method achieves 90 % reduction of fifth and seventh harmonic components from a quasi square wave inverter output.
