A Fast Algebraic Web Verification Service

Abstract: Abstract. In this paper, we present the rewriting-based, Web verification service WebVerdi-M, which is able to recognize forbidden/incorrect patterns and incomplete/missing Web pages. WebVerdi-M relies on a powerful Web verification engine that is written in Maude, which automatically derives the error symptoms. Thanks to the AC pattern matching supported by Maude and its metalevel facilities, WebVerdi-M enjoys much better performance and usability than a previous implementation of the verification framework. … Show more

“…An experimental implementation αVerdi of the abstract framework proposed in this paper has been developed and compared to the previous Verdi implementation for the realistic test cases given in [4]. Table 1 shows some of the results we obtained for the simulation of the Web specification rules for an on-line auction system in five different, randomly generated XML documents.…”

“…In this work, we are particularly interested in the abstraction of completeness process, because in the previous version the needed fixpoint computation leads to unsatisfactory performance (see [4]). …”

“…In the Verdi project [13,14,15,16,17,18], a rule-based, formal specification language has been used to define syntactic/semantic properties of XML repositories and XMLbased Web sites. The key idea behind this approach is to exploit the power of term rewriting [19] and Rewriting Logic (RWL) [20] to support the specification and efficient manipulation of XML/HTML documentation in a natural and effective way.…”
