A Family of Magnetic Coupling DC-DC Converters With Zero-Voltage-Switching Over Wide Input Voltage Range and Load Variation

Abstract: This paper presents a family of soft-switching DC-DC converters with a simple auxiliary circuit consisting of a coupled winding and a pair of auxiliary switch and diode. The auxiliary circuit is activated in a short interval and thus the circulating conduction losses are small. With the auxiliary circuit, zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) and zero-current-switching are achieved for the main and auxiliary switches respectively, over wide input voltage range and load variation. In addition, the reverse-recovery probl… Show more

“…This auxiliary current is processed by three converters: output regulation converter, battery output converter, and the battery charger. A hybrid DC-DC converter was suggested by Yuan, Peng, Liu, and Yi [25] for use in a laptop that draws power from a fuel cell. Unfortunately, a significant drop in voltage is causing issues for this power distribution system, necessitating a voltage regulator module (VRM).…”

“…Adjusting the pulse width of switch S1 in the center of the converter permits users to effectively determine the voltage at its output. Fig 13 shows a proposed unique zero-voltage switching DC-to-DC converters by Chen et al [25] for renewable energy conversion systems, which makes use of a voltage source inverter and a doubler-voltage system composed of coupled inductor. When an active switch is employed, a voltage stress is created.…”
