A facile synthesis and tautomeric structure of novel 4‐arylhydrazono‐3‐(2‐hydroxyphenyl)‐2‐pyrazolin‐5‐ones and their application as disperse dyes

Abstract: The main target of this paper was the synthesis of novel azo disperse dyes with better dyeing properties, together with a systematic investigation to determine their dominant tautomer(s) from 12 possible tautomeric structures. In this regard, novel azopyrazolin‐5‐one dyes were synthesised via the reaction of hydrazine hydrate with 2,3,4‐chromantrione‐3‐arylhydrazones. The acid dissociation constants both in the ground and in the excited state for the series prepared were determined and correlated by the Hammet… Show more

“…This can be attributed to the increase in polarity of the dyes as well as large molecular size (Metwally et al, 2013). Furthermore, there was no staining on the adjacent multi-fibre fabric in the case of dry crocking.…”

“…All of the 3‐aryl‐ and 3‐hetaryl‐azo‐ 4‐hydroxyquinolin‐2(1 H )‐one dyes were synthesised from the reaction of the appropriate diazonium salt with 6, 8‐dichloro‐4‐hydroxyquinolin‐2(1 H )‐one 4 using classical reported procedures for the synthesis of azo compounds . The crude products were purified by recrystallisation with DMF‐H 2 O and then analysed.…”

The structure of the dyes was confirmed by UV-vis, FT-IR and 1 H NMR spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis.…”
