“…Synthesis of Au NRs : The synthetic details on the preparation of Au NRs through seed‐mediated approach were reported in our earlier work . In brief, Au seeds were prepared by adding the ice‐cold NaBH 4 solution to the mixture of CTAB and HAuCl 4 , which were placed in a water bath at 27 °C for 1 h before use.…”

“…Cytotoxicity Assay : The cytotoxicity of the nanohybrids was evaluated using MTT assay in HeLa and C6 cell lines following the procedure described in our previous work . The cells were cultured with 100 μL of fresh Dulbecco's modified eagle medium (DMEM) containing PGED/pDNA, PGEA/pDNA, Au‐PGED/pDNA, or Au‐PGEA/pDNA complexes at different N/P ratios and kept for 4 h. Then, the complexes were removed completely and the cells were cultured in fresh normal medium for additional 20 h. The final absorbance of the produced formazan in DMSO at a wavelength of 570 nm was measured using a Bio‐Rad Model 680 Microplate Reader (UK).…”

“…Therefore, functionalization enhanced the image contrast by particular binding to Hydroxyapatite crystals. Gold nanorods can be used as CT imaging agents as well as gene carriers through functionalization of interested gene through poly(2‐( N , N ‐dimethyl amino)ethyl methacrylate) 64. Lalwani et al incorporated manganese ions within the graphene sheets and functionalized with iodine in equimolar concentration to create dual probes, enabling MR imaging and PET 65.…”

“…Through appropriate surface functionalization, the hetero‐nanoparticles can be employed to construct organic/inorganic nanohybrids with more integrated functions (e.g., gene delivery, imaging, and chemotherapy) . Nanohybrids taking advantages of both organic and inorganic components were synthesized to realize combined functions of gene therapy and imaging, while the cytotoxicity is still not satisfying . Recently, a series of low‐toxic hydroxyl‐rich polycations based on ethanolamine (EA)‐modified poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA), namely BUCT‐PGEA, have been demonstrate as a kind of excellent gene carriers with low cytotoxicity .…”
