“…Ph 2 CNTol and TolNSNTol were prepared in our previous work. 5 TolNC NTol 34 was isolated as a pale yellow liquid in 83% yield after distillation under vacuum from the experiment with 0.3 mol % catalyst 1s (reflux in n-decane overnight). 1 H NMR (CDCl 3 , 400 MHz): δ 7.13 (d, 3 J 8.2, 4H), 7.08 (d, 4H), 2.34 (s, 6H).…”

“…From the standpoint of cost and sustainability, CDIs are particularly attractive due to the simplicity of their RoS from bulk chemicals, facilitating an affordable supply of CDIs on an industrial scale. Specifically, despite the various approaches for the synthesis of CDIs in the literature, , industrially, CDIs are manufactured practically exclusively by the condensation of an amine with an isothiocyanate followed by dehydrosulfurization (Figure a) . In fact, as isothiocyanates are also made from amines by a reaction with CS 2 , the entire synthesis of CDIs can be accomplished in a practical and atom-efficient manner starting from one or two amines.…”

“…Carbodiimides, which possess an electrophilic carbon center in the form of mutually activating unsaturated CN bonds, are of considerable interest to synthetic organic and medicinal chemists. Specially, their reactivity patterns make carbodiimides important precursors that allow access to structurally diverse nitrogenous substances including amides, ureas, isoureas, and guanidines. Carbodiimides are commercially available or synthetically accessible from a range of structurally simple reagents.…”
