I approach a set of processes that involve transformations, transpositions, and intermediations between different expressive forms of Amazonian Indigenous Peoples associated with the use of ayahuasca. I focus on groups of the Pano linguistic stock, particularly the Huni Kuin (Kaxinawa) and the example of the MAHKU (Movimento dos Artistas Huni Kuin), a new artistic collective created by some of these Indigenous People. I point to the complex meanings of the various expressive forms of these peoples, from traditional (oral narratives, graphics, visionary images linked to shamanic practices) to more recently adopted (figurative drawing and graphic recording in book format). I emphasize the importance of ayahuasca for the elaboration of these different expressive forms. By highlighting the meanings that imply the use of ayahuasca in certain Indigenous contexts, I also intend to contribute to the expansion of understanding of and broader debate about psychedelic experiences.

In this paper, we describe the spiritual and kinship alliances between heads of an urban Santo Daime church from Rio de Janeiro and some leaders of the Yawanawá people from the Amazonian region. We suggest that these alliances involve exchanges and dialogical relationships that hold different meanings for the diverse social actors that take part in them. Further, we argue that equivocation and functional misunderstandings have an important role in these multidirectional dialogues. Based on this case study, we approach the Yawanawá strategies for capturing otherness, and the insertion of the daimistas in the indigenous sociality networks. We focus especially on the Yawanawá mode of producing kin by capturing non‐indigenous people and their participation in exchange networks that encompass multiple regimes of value. From the daimista point of view, we describe these relationships using the native category of “eclecticism.” We suggest that the daimistas attempt to translate the Yawanawá shamanic knowledge and the consumption of the “forest medicines,” experiencing the performance of “becoming indigenous.”

Este artigo visa reunir considerações da antropologia sobre o desenho, articulando-as a aprendizagens recebidas em minha experiência de campo com artistas inga, na Colômbia. Primeiramente, apresenta-se um conjunto de autores que têm renovado os usos e compreensões do desenhar na pesquisa em antropologia e/ou autores que consideram as implicações do desenho para seus sujeitos de pesquisa, inclusive por meio de uma discussão das noções de desenho, design, grafismo e imagem, entre outras. Em segundo lugar, apresentam-se considerações de meus interlocutores de pesquisa sobre o desenho. Para finalizar, o artigo levanta algumas questões, a fim de sugerir alcances, efeitos e ressonâncias dessas reflexões para a pesquisa em antropologia.
