A Dynamic Model for Fire Emergency Evacuation Based on Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: Abstract-This work introduces a dynamic model for the fire emergency evacuation problem. The model extends the concept safety introduced by Barnes et.al. for the situation when the navigation graph is dynamic. The two possible scenarios are described for using the dynamic model with a Wireless Sensor Network for fire emergency evacuation.

“…Another system in real-time building monitoring technologies concerns sensor units and communication network based on wireless Zig-Bee which can also be used in evacuation situations [44][45][46][47], such as those for construction elevator security system [48] or patient localization and environmental monitoring [49]. Localization data can be elaborated by different algorithms [32] in order to give information or stimuli to people evacuating (e.g., appropriate evacuation routes) [50][51][52][53][54]. The interactive module effectively returns information and stimuli to the occupants based on algorithm results.…”

“…In [8] is presented a distributed algorithm to find safe paths for evacuees taking into account predictions of the movement of the hazards, but there are some shortcomings addressed in [9]. The distributed building evacuation simulator used in our simulations is firstly proposed in [10] and particularly in [11], and it can reduce the simulation time required for large-scale systems and facilitate the modelling of the agents.…”
