A Dwarf in King Arthur’s Court: Perceiving Disability in Arthurian Romance

Abstract: This article contrasts contemporary and medieval conceptualizations of the dwarf in texts stemming from the French Arthurian tradition in order to draw attention to the critical limitations that ensue from our scholarly tendencies to treat such non-normative bodies as prodigious objects rather than possible subjects.
