A Double-Printed Trapezoidal Patch Dipole Antenna for Uwb Applications With Band-Notched Characteristic

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a novel double-printed trapezoidal patch dipole antenna suitable for UWB applications with band-notched characteristic is presented and investigated. The band-notched characteristic is achieved by inserting T-shape slots on the trapezoidal radiating patches. The impedance characteristic, radiation patterns and the transfer function are studied. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna covers the entire UWB band (3.1-10.6 GHz) while it has a notched band for the IEEE 802.11a fr… Show more

“…Thus, it is desirable to design a UWB antenna with multiple band-notched characteristics to avoid the potential interference. In the published literatures, there have been some reports on the UWB antennas with band-notched characteristics [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. However, most of these antennas are designed to generate only one notched frequency band so that just one narrow band of disturbance can be eliminated.…”

“…Therefore, the UWB antenna with rejected characteristic is required. In the present literatures, the most popular methods to generate the frequency band-notch function are embedding slots [6][7][8], using defected ground structure (DGS) [9][10][11], or employing the above two methods simultaneously [12][13][14]. Unfortunately, these designs can only obtain one rejected band with the complicated structures.…”

“…In [26], a directional UWB array has been realized by using four pairs of leaf-shaped bowtie elements and a flat aluminium plate as a reflector. Recently, various planar monopoles have been reported [27][28][29][30][31]. In [32], a compact UWB UHF array antenna has been developed for through wall radar by using the printed elliptical monopole antenna.…”
