A Double-Blind Placebo Controlled Trial of Medroxyprogesterone Acetate and Cyproterone Acetate with Seven Pedophiles

Abstract: Seven of ten pedophiles in hospital completed a double-blind, placebo-controlled two-dose comparison of medroxyprogesterone acetate and cyproterone acetate. Sequential measures during the 28 week study were: patient self-reports, nurses' observations, phallometry, hormone levels and side-effects. In particular, some case reports with mirtazapine stated the efficacy of this agent in abating hypersexual behaviors (Nguyen at al.…”

“…149 In the same year, both cyproterone and medroxyprogesterone were reported to decease all sexual problems by decreasing the testosterone levels, but only the minority of pedophiles were likely to accept the libido-reducing drugs. 150 In 1993, one group concluded that there was no convincing evidence for success from drug treatment. 151 However, in the same year a more positive report was published of a decrease in recidivism, 152 and in 1995 a decrease in sex drive was claimed.…”
