A dose Dependent hepatoprotective and nephroprotective activity of eucalyptus oil on Streptozotocin induced diabetic mice model

Abstract: Background: Eucalyptus globulus are a prime source of global eucalyptus oil production. This oil has therapeutic, flavoring, antimicrobial, and biopesticide properties. This oil has got popularity because they are reported as pharmacologically active. A study has been conducted with the aim to find dose dependant effect of eucalyptus oil on diabetic mice induced with Streptozotocin (STZ) and analyze the hepatoprotective and nephroprotective nature through biochemical and histological study. STZ at low dose was… Show more

“…The hepatoprotective activity and the nephroprotective activity of an extract, in general, is a dose-dependent activity [ 40 ]. Purple passion fruit peel extract has the best hepatoprotective activity and the best nephroprotective activity compared to red passion fruit peel extract and yellow passion fruit peel extract.…”

“…The results observed in Table 7 show diabetic rats with high AST and ALT levels confirming liver damage which can be rectified significantly by AEP and HEP treatment. Monalisa et al, (2018) also obtained this result by working on the hepatoprotective and nephroprotective activity of eucalyptus oil on Streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice [32]. Diabetes mellitus affects the kidney and is the leading cause of diabetic nephropathy.…”

“…The rate of regeneration of the liver and the kidney, observed in this study was dose dependent with the highest regeneration in the group treated with highest concentration of C. vulgaris. Dose-dependent regeneration of organs has been reported [43,44,45]. Several plant extracts have been reported to possess hepathoprotective and nephroprotective abilities [43,45,46,47,48].…”
