La "Inversión de la Vagina" o "Prolapso de la Cúpula Vaginal", consecutivo a la histerectomía, ha cobrado nueva importancia en los últimos tiempos: en efecto, la frecuencia cada vez mayor con que se practica la histerectomía como tratamiento del prolapso, especialmente en mujeres menopáusicas, ha trascendido a numerosos cirujanos no especializados quienes consideran que el acto esencial en la cura de la distopia está condicionado por la extirpación del órgano herniado, sin tener en cuenta que es por el contrario en la correcta reconstrucciónde los elementos de suspensión y de sostén lesionados en donde está la razón de ser de las técnicas modernas. Consecuencia: el prolapso volverá a presentarse con el consiguiente disgusto para la paciente que observa cómo sus órganos salen de nuevo, y mayor disgusto aún para el cirujano quien tendrá que reconocer que su técnica es defectuosa.
